![]() Today I am still battling the flu. I finally found my sleep, as my mother would say, and so feel like I've been broad-sided by a truck. I am brutally aware of too many parts of my body, such as my head and tummy. What were you thinking, Dear Readers? Please focus... Anyway, my tummy dictates today as does my fever, which I am still running. Today, my tummy says, "Applesauce please." Isn't my tummy polite? Anyway, I know applesauce can be very settling and I have a few apples about so I peeled them and tossed them in a pot with a nub of fresh ginger, a dash of cinnamon and salt and a little lemon peel. It's covered and happily bubbling away while I post this blog. I will mush it up and adjust the flavoring for sugar or honey, depending on what my tummy decides. I will attempt to nibble this while I binge watch Netflix and pray for the flu to pass. You see, Dear Readers, there are foods that settle a sad tummy or ease a painful headache or in general, make you feel better. You know this because you are brilliant and read this blog! Sometimes it's good to have a stomach for a dictator. Your body will tell what it needs, listen. By the way: 4 apples (I had Golden Delicious) washed, peeled and quartered a nub ginger (1/2" piece) a dash of cinnamon and salt Only enough water to allow the apples to steam, about 1/2 cup or a little less sugar/honey to taste Bring to the boil, cover and lower the heat. Cook until soft. Mush up according to your liking and add sugar/honey if desired.
