To celebrate the Fourth of July, our family took a short hike along the Hawk Falls Trail in Hickory Run State Park. We walked past Ghost flowers and mushrooms and through a rhododendron tunnel. (Rhododendrons line the entire trail and surrounded the falls.) We brought our dog Lollipop who also enjoyed the trail and picnic of maple salami from Canada, local peaches and shortbread from England.
The rode home was lined with more blooming rhodies and wild climbing roses. We barbecued chicken and corn for dinner and served it alongside watermelon, homemade rosemary bread, broccoli and Mai Tais. Homemade Caramel Crumb Cheesecake and fruity sangria for dessert is a great way to end a meal and the 4th! We value and respect the independence our country provides and appreciate the large and small freedoms of our home. Happiness to you all, Dear Readers.
