What the WHAT?! ![]() What? Lawnmowers and leaf blowers and attitude at 7:40 am on a Sunday? What type of an inconsiderate so and so runs a lawnmower at 7:40 am on a Sunday? The jerky kind that's who! Why on earth would anyone want to run a lawnmower at 7:40 am on a Sunday? What sort of a neighbor does not insist their lawn service not show up before 9am on a weekend let alone a Sunday. Don't they have anything better to do like read this blog? I ask you? Look. I am all for keeping our homes tidy but there is a line that should not be crossed and running power tools before a certain hour (or after a certain hour for that matter) is one of them! ![]() Now that I have opened this Pandora's Box of pet peeves, lets discuss what has happened to basic, I mean basic, human kindness? We, as a people in general, need some guidance. We run noisy equipment at all hours of the day without any consideration for others. We drive like our vehicles are war machines. We do not listen to each other. We are impatient with each other. Maybe if we all, as a human race, take a moment each day, take a breath and focus/meditate on being kind. OK. I bet I lost a lot of you Dear Readers. STOP rolling your eyes please and stay with me. First of all, did you know a "moment" was a medieval unit of time? It is actually the movement of a shadow on a sundial in a solar hour. Now, medieval people were on to something. A medieval hour was shorter than a modern hour but minutes were longer. No matter how a "moment" is measured, it is not a lot of time to spare for the greater good. I have blogged about mindfulness and kindness and how both can help a person feel connected and on track. I have also blogged about chocolate, who hasn't? Well, how about combining the three? Try this, get some delicious 'treat yo-self' chocolate, place it on your tongue. As the chocolatey-goodness fills your mouth, let goodness fill your spirit and as your spirit is filling up, send out one thought/prayer for kindness to the universe. Win-Win. ![]() Share your ideas about how to fill the universe with kindness or at least stop inconsiderate behaviors. It's worth a shot and at least there will be chocolate.
