Someone's knocking at the door, Dear Readers, and her name is Spring! I know it doesn't feel like it now, but in just a few days Spring will enter our lives once again. She will bring new branches and buds. She will bring bird song and whimsy. She will bring sunshine that warms our mornings and breezes that chill our evenings. Spring brings the promise of gardening and hiking and exploration and summer. I for one cannot wait to garden, hike, explore and in general, be outside. I bought myself a proper pair of sturdy, waterproof walking/hiking shoes and I plan to put those babies to good use. I am ready (and impatiently) waiting to answer Spring's knock of return!
To welcome Spring, today will be about tidying up about the house, finishing my cookbook and trimming the apple tree in hopes of coaxing it to produce in the Fall. See? Spring does that to a person. She encourages us to get up, get moving and get productive! Can I get a "high five" for Spring please? I am looking ahead to languid, outdoor evening spent watching hummingbirds while I sip a Mai Tai. I am looking forward to watching my husband, Russell, cook on the grill while I sip a Mai Tai. I am looking forward to a morning ritual of digging in my garden and planting seeds. I am even looking forward to forgetting where I planted what and where. Wait? Stop! Perhaps this year will be different. I will turn over a new leaf and stop mystery gardening. I will label my garden! There, I just pledged. Forget "new year" resolutions! How about "Spring" resolutions? I like the sound of this, Dear Readers, don't you? "Spring Resolution" has a catchy ring to it don't you think? Okay, here we go, "I, Mary Grube, being of crazy mind and broken body, do hereby resolve to label my garden." Now, you try it and please share your Spring Resolution in the comments section.
